Christmas cards and sparkly things...

Hello fellow crafters! Hope you are all having a good weekend. My beloved is now not coming :( but on the bright side that gives me more time for crafting which is always good especially as I've not yet made his card!

I've only made one card today that I'd like to share, it's for my mum and was inspired by the one tracylovestoscrap on You Tube did in her cards mini album. I used an A4 sheet of white hammered cardstock which I cut in half length ways,  I then scored both pieces of card in half then trimmed one half on an angle, flipping one sheet so it was cut the other way. I then stuck the two cut card blanks together (actually I think the next time I make one I'll just use two square card blanks and cut them down as required) to form one card blank with two flaps facing each other. I then decorated the card blank using docrafts Papermania "Classic Christmas" by Stephanie Dyment, 6" by 6" paper pack. These papers are quite lovely though probably not ones I'd usually buy, however they were part of a prize I won from Quick Cards Made Easy a few months ago and I thought I'd give them a go for this card. The flaps are stuck down to the base of the card blank so I didn't bother covering the entire blank just cut a strip about 1 1/2" in depth and 6" across.

The papers on the front are highlighted with red foil but the black tree paper is plain. I cut the foiled papers slightly smaller than the flaps then stuck them down. I stuck the left hand flap down using thin double-sided tape just on the bottom edge the did the same with the right hand flap to form a pocket. I was worried that my mum might try to open the card flaps thinking it was like a traditional card so I glued down a red gingham ribbon (part of the Do-Crafts prize from QCME mag) using Scotch Quick Drying Glue and added the ready made gingham bow using a glue dot. The Classic Christmas papers come with two sheets of die-cut Notelets so I mounted one on black card to make a tag for my message and highlighted areas of the notelet with Cosmic Shimmer glitter glue for that added touch of sparkle, I then finished the tag off with a loop of the red gingham ribbon and slotted the tag into the card pocket. Oh nearly forgot, before I stuck the papers down I edged them with Memento "London Fog" ink (Riverside Crafts) just to give them a bit of definition.

I'm pleased with how this card has turned out and I'm hoping my mum will like it too!
